Braving in the Wilderness
Women’s Retreat
October 9 - 12, 2026
BLACK HILLS OF SOUTH DAKOTA
Nothing left to prove.
Everything left to live.
You’ve done the inner work.
You know your values.
You know your worth.
So why doesn’t it always show up in your life?
Somewhere along the way you learned that being a good woman meant being responsible, capable, and endlessly improving.
But what if the next chapter of your life isn’t about proving anything at all?
Join a small group of brave women in the Black Hills for four days designed to help you live what you already know.
You already know… so why aren’t you living it?
Most women who come to this retreat are not beginners.
You’ve read the books. You’ve done the journaling. You’ve thought deeply about who you are and what matters.
Deep down inside, you know you don’t have to keep proving your worth.
And yet…
You still overextend yourself. You still second-guess your voice. You still feel the pull to be better, do better, achieve more.
It’s not because you’re unaware.
It’s because knowing something and living from it are two very different things.
Three Powerful Shifts
-

From Knowing to Embodying
Move your wisdom from your head to your life.
Instead of second-guessing your voice or overthinking decisions, reconnect with the confidence that comes from trusting yourself and begin showing up as the woman you already know you are.
-

From Insight to Practice
Most personal growth stops at insight. But insight alone doesn’t change how we show up in our lives.
You’ll begin practicing the choices, boundaries, and conversations that reflect your inner authority, so confidence stops being something you think about and becomes something you experience.
-

From Reflection to Alignment
Clarity without action keeps us stuck.
Instead of leaving with another list of things to fix, you’ll identify one place where your life is ready to shift… a decision, boundary, or next step that brings your life back into alignment with who you know yourself to be.
Where that shift happens
Something changes when you step away from your everyday routine and spend a few days surrounded by thoughtful women who are asking the same deeper questions about their lives.
Conversations go further. Reflection gets quieter and more honest. And the version of you that usually stays buried under responsibilities, expectations, and overthinking finally has some room to breathe.
Reflective walks through the pines where new clarity finds you
Small group conversations that help you hear your own wisdom out loud
Embodied exercises that reconnect you with different parts of yourself
Journaling and creative reflection to explore what’s shifting inside you
Laughter and meaningful conversation around the dinner table
Fireside conversations under the stars
Moments where your life starts to catch up with what you already know.
The shifts don’t stay here… they follow you home.
This retreat may be for you if…
Say YES to the adventure
You’ve built a meaningful life and still feel the quiet pressure to keep proving yourself.
You know your values and want your life to reflect them more fully.
You’re ready to step out of striving and reconnect with the freedom of living from your own inner authority.
You’re looking for meaningful conversation, reflection, and connection with other thoughtful women.
You want space to slow down, listen inward, and return home with renewed clarity and alignment.
If so, join us as we brave the wilderness together!
This becomes home for a few days
We’ll retreat in a beautiful cabin tucked into the pines in the heart of the Black Hills.
A place to slow down. To gather. To have the kind of conversations that don’t usually fit into everyday life.
You’ll find cozy spaces to sit and talk, quiet corners to reflect, and a table that will invite conversation long after the meal is over.
Outside, the forest surrounds you.
There’s space to walk, breathe, and be inspired by the beauty of the Black Hills.
Location and arrival details are shared after registration
Hi… I’m Lisa.
I’ve often thought of myself as a trailblazer, a pathmaker, a way-finder. But the older I get, the more I realize my real gift isn’t in showing people the path… it’s in walking it with them.
Creating space where women can slow down, get honest with themselves, and begin living in a way that actually reflects who they are.
I can’t tell you exactly what this experience will hold for you. But I can tell you this: something shifts when you step away from the noise, the expectations, and the constant pull to do more… and give yourself the space to simply be.
To listen. To reflect. To reconnect with the part of you that already knows.
This isn’t about becoming someone new. It’s about living as the woman you already are.
I’d be honored to walk that path with you.

I’m so glad I took the leap and said yes to this retreat. Those few days of reflection, journaling, and honest conversation were exactly what my soul was craving. I came by myself and left with friendships that still matter to me. It was truly priceless… time I didn’t realize how much I needed.

It’s hard to explain what this experience is until you’re in it. There’s something about stepping away and giving yourself space to actually think, reflect, and be honest with yourself. I’ve come back three times now, and each time it’s been exactly what I needed.
~ Lindsey S.

This retreat was completely outside my comfort zone and exactly what I needed. I showed up not knowing anyone and quickly felt like I was surrounded by women who truly saw and supported me. Something shifted for me there. I left feeling more confident in myself and more willing to trust my own voice.
~ Sadie H.
The special courage it takes to experience true belonging is not just about braving the wilderness, it’s about becoming the wilderness.

If something in you is saying yes…
It’s easy to talk yourself out of this.
To wait for a better time. To convince yourself you’ll figure it out later.
But the women who say yes to this aren’t looking for more information.
They’re ready to live differently.
Nothing left to prove.
Everything left to live.
FAQs
How many people will be there?
For real discovery and connection to happen during retreat, the group will be small. There will be no more than 12 attendees. If you are coming with friends and would like to share a room, it would be helpful to reserve them at the same time.
Is this based on the work of Brené Brown?
Where Lisa is a certified facilitator under the work of Brené Brown, this retreat is not based upon Brené’s book Braving in the Wilderness. Lisa will introduce quotes and concepts of Brené’s work but has developed her own wilderness journey she’ll be leading you through. Also… this is not a faith-based retreat but faith and spirituality organically come into conversations due to beliefs and lived experiences of the attendees.
What dietary needs can be accommodated?
We will do our best to accommodate all food requests. Once you reserve your room, you’ll complete a questionnaire informing us of your dietary preferences.
What happens after I sign up?
Once your registration is confirmed, you’ll be sent a welcome email and a short questionnaire where you can share any preferences and dietary needs. There are always a few questions that help Lisa create a personalized experience for you! You’ll also be invited to join the Braver Together Community. You can check it out here.
What’s included and not included?
Your retreat weekend includes one bed, possibly in a shared room. All your meals snacks, and select beverages (coffee, tea, bottled water, and wine) are included. Travel to and from the lodge (including airfare, travel insurance) and optional activities or outings not outlined in the retreat itinerary are not included.
How outdoors-ish and physically fit do I need to be?
You don’t need the survival skills of Bear Grylls, be an expert hiker, or have experience with tent camping to attend this retreat. The ‘wilderness’ is a metaphor for spaces we encounter that are bigger than us… we won’t spend excessive time in the literal wilderness. There is one organized hike on a maintained path accessible for any skill level.
I’m coming from out of town, where should I fly into?
The closest airport is in Rapid City, SD (RAP). It’s about 40 miles from the lodge. Another option is flying into Sioux Falls, SD (FSD) and possibly ride sharing with other attendees.
What is the cancellation/refund policy?
If you cancel your registration on or before August 1, 2026, you’ll be eligible for a refund. No refunds will be offered after August 1, 2026. However, funds can be applied to a future program, to be used within one year. Registration is also transferable to another attendee.
